Chinese Proverb
It is absolutely normal to be on fire with God one day and then feel lost the next. It's easier to seek and follow God when we are fired up. When we feel lost is when we need it more. We must press through with love, peace, truth, and all of God's character traits, even when we don't feel like it. If we can continue with the inward correction process, find peace with God and build love with others, joy will be there.
2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,"
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
Our obedience can punish disobedience. Our inwardly seeking and choosing to develop good can put away evil. Pondering how to abide more in God's ways inwardly and outwardly with readiness to participate in love and peace can reduce hurry, worry, resentment, and self-seeking.
We will need to improve our obedience with God's good. We must participate in it to experience the good in it. And we must be humble, open, honest, sincere, and willing to let God more within us. Our pride, stiff necks, hardened hearts, distrust, controlling, anger, and self-seeking ways can block our senses from witnessing and experiencing God's good.
I needed to let go of such things and humble myself before I could sense God's goodness. I needed to trust God's direction and trust God with my heart. I had to become moldable clay for the potter. My thinking and believing needed help.
I wake up with desires to sleep in, yet I choose to get up anyway and pray for help with my desires. Sometimes I don't want to go to work, yet I choose to go anyway.
There are many choices I make in life, I do not want to do, but I choose to do them anyway. I do them because I know they are good. This too with living by God's principles and character. I know spiritual inward and outward consequences will develop from how I choose to think and behave.
Growing spiritually involves similar choices around prayer, groups, service, and time with God. I need to choose to increase productivity with spiritual good even when I don't want to. I need to see how love and peace are good, even when my mind thinks otherwise.
2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
When I began this skill it required discipline to slow my thinking down enough to stay present with my current thoughts. This is a skill that can be developed over time with regular practice.
