We can grow with God! We can choose to apply ourselves, our hearts, minds, and souls to be abiding in God more. We can do this with increasing measure.
Those who have thoroughly practiced (Confession, self-examination, repentance, restitution, service, prayer, meditation, etc.) and have had a spiritual awakening will likely be familiar with this process. Those who have not experienced such things may feel lost and confused. Not to worry. We each can start from where we are. Keeping focused upon God's Good is the goal.
It's important to understand many of us can apply ourselves far more than we actually do. It is so easy to unconsciously use the crowd around us as a benchmark for our spiritual development. Few of us will press on more than the crowd to grow. That could make us the leader.
The facts of my experience testify over and over again that a much better life with God is at hand, if I only choose to apply my inward being more with God's goodness. This requires a regular concentrated effort to stay focussed, stand firm, persevere, and endure.
In my experience, most people I have encountered seem to stray from practicing improvement with the written goal whether it be the Bible or 12 step program.
If you desire spiritual growth even beyond the crowd and are willing to do more than the crowd to be changed by God's Goodness, this may be the right place for you.
Are you ready and willing to trust God completely?
We must be ready to be different, Godly different. We must be willing to trust the process and commit to it. Righteous development involves training. How well we are trained is contingent upon our choices.
Our own inward condition is a result upon how well we live each day by spiritual principles. We can keep it simple by focusing upon the next step in front of us as we walk more with God.
We are instructed to examine ourselves (1 Corinthians 11:27, Galatians 6:4). As we examine ourselves for error we are to seek forgiveness and other righteous corrective action. Blame, persecution, resentment toward self, and other evil ways of thinking ought to be avoided. We can seek peace through the practice of letting go of such evil practices within our thought life.
